AskForDates helps you ask people things in a more personal way: out on a date, which weekend works for the whole group, or who's buying for whom at Secret Santa. Here's who's behind it, how our guides are made and the rules we work by.

In a nutshell
What AskForDates is

Small tools for big questions

With the invite builder you make a date invitation your date taps through on their phone: a No button that runs away, a scratch card or a prize wheel, a letter from you and a ticket to keep. It goes out as a link, with no server of ours at all if you like.

The group poll helps your group find a day that works for everyone, for a trip, a birthday or a dinner. And the Secret Santa generator draws the names and gives everyone their own private link.

Because asking for dates can mean both: the romantic kind and the calendar kind.

Why it exists

A big question deserves more than a gray bubble

Asking someone out, popping a big question or pinning down a day for the whole crew: most of it happens in a quick text that gets buried in the group chat. Plenty of tools turn that moment into a form, open with a cookie banner or want an account and coins first. We do it differently.

  • Personal, not a form

Inside jokes, sticky notes, your own one-liners and a letter from you. The invite should sound like the two of you.

  • Fair, not pushy

No banner and no ads in the invite, and no account, for you or the people you ask.

  • Made for everyone

A first date, an anniversary, the big question to your best friend or a plan for the whole crew. Any gender, any kind of relationship.

Our guides

How our guides are made

Besides the tools there are guides on date ideas, asking someone out and first dates, big occasions and planning with friends. We research them carefully and check the facts before they go live. A few fixed rules apply to all of them:

  1. Researched, not made upWe check customs, etiquette and facts before writing. Like how Secret Santa is called Kris Kringle in parts of Australia, or what a hen do is in the UK.
  2. No invented numbersNo made-up statistics, studies, quotes or testimonials. If we're not sure about something, we leave it out or say so.
  3. Places checkedCity guides only list places that really exist, with the right name and rough location. We skip prices and opening hours because they change too often.
  4. Made to be triedSpecific ideas and example texts you can copy, not vague advice. What you read should work for you next weekend.
  5. Honest about our own toolsWhere our tools help, we link them. Where they can't do something, we say so. Other brands are only mentioned to describe them.
  6. Kept up to dateEvery article shows when it was last updated. Spot a mistake? Write to us and we'll fix it.

There are no paid placements and no affiliate links. If a guide recommends something, it's there because it fits.

Our principles

This moment belongs to you. Not to us.

What we stick to in everything we build.

  • No account

Not for you and not for anyone you ask. Your drafts stay on your device.

  • No tracking in the invite

No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels.

  • We don't read along

The short link is encrypted in your browser and only the link holds the key. Anyone with the link can open the invite, so send it only to your date.

  • Minimal data in group polls

A poll stores only what it needs: title, date range, names and days. It's deleted no later than 60 days after the date range ends.

  • A fair way out

Fun yes, pressure no. With โ€œMaybe notโ€ your date can say no kindly, and no game can be lost.

  • Free and honest

The basics are free. Extras cost a one-time fee you see upfront. No subscriptions, no coins, no fake reviews.

How we handle data in detail: see our privacy policy.
